How is training paid?

Training is paid on an hourly basis and starts from day one of ground school.

Where is the training conducted?

Training is conducted at the company's headquarters in Hyannis, MA.

How long is the training?

Training consists of a 1 1/2 to 2 week ground school followed by several simulator and flight training sessions. Depending on the size of the class training can last 4-6 weeks.

Is there a commitment to work at Cape Air?

While we don't have a training contract, we do have a letter of understanding that each new hire is provided. The commitment is generally for the season in which the hiring is taking place. This can be from 6-12 months.

What are the pilot schedules like?

Typically pilot schedules consist of a 5 days on and 2 days off schedule. Depending on the region and the seniority at the base, it is possible that you may be able to bid and hold a 4 days on and 3 days off schedule. The great thing about our schedules is that each pilot starts and stops their days in their home bases.

Where are your pilot bases?

There are several bases in each region that we operate. Bases are determined on a seniority basis through the bid. Here is a list of the current bases:

New England - Hyannis, New Bedford, Boston (seasonal)
Florida - Fort Myers
Caribbean - San Juan, St. Croix, St. Thomas, Ponce, Mayaguez, Tortola (BVI)
Micronesia - Guam
Indiana - Evansville, South Bend

What are your benefits?

Cape Air offers a comprehensive health care package that includes dental and vision. Each employee is also eligible, based on their dates of hire and employment status, for vacation time. Travel benefits are extended to the employee, spouse, dependent children and their parents. Eligibility for these travel benefits depends on the airline. Additional information on benefits is provided at the interview.

What is the pay scale?

Cape Air offers a competitive pay scale for pilots that is comparable to the industry. Detailed pay scale information is provided in the interview process. Please contact the pilot recruiter for more information. First year Captains in the 402 can earn on an average of $31K to $35K per year.

Do you provide housing?

Housing options may be available after successful completion of the check ride. More information can be obtained during the training process. Housing is not available at all bases.
